The Danger of Restrictions: The Powers That Be Working To Limit Our Freedoms
The word “restricts” is often used to describe rules and regulations that are imposed by powerful entities in order to control us. Think about it: restrictions on our actions, our behavior, our thought, our speech. But what if the powers that be – the elites, the governments, the corporations – are actually using these restrictions to control us and limit our freedoms?
It is no secret that the elite class of people have never been fond of the common man’s freedoms. After all, it diminishes their power and status. Therefore, it is no surprise that they have been continuously working to find newer and more innovative ways to control us and restrict our choices.
Take, for example, the recent social media censorship controversy. Over the past couple of years, these Silicon Valley giants have been tightening the noose on the content we can see and post to our accounts. The ever-growing list of “forbidden words” and “offensive content” that can get your account banned or restricted is growing longer and longer. Furthermore, their algorithms are designed to tailor the content you see and control the flow of information so that it only serves their needs.
Not just in the digital realm are we being restricted. Governments worldwide have been enforcing strict lockdown regulations that are limiting people’s mobility and further undermining their freedoms. The oppressive nature of these measures is becoming increasingly clear, with most governments deeming certain forms of work or organizational activity “out of bounds”.
The media too is playing its part in restricting the flow of information by selectively choosing what to report and what to ignore. By limiting the scope of the information that the public is exposed to, they can effectively control the narrative and shape the way people perceive the world.
And then there are the corporations, who have been using their vast resources and influence to create a world of consumerism. By shunning alternative ways of living, and promoting the “buy-more-but-spend-less” tactics, they are effectively limiting our choices and making us slaves to their whims.
The situation is more dire than it may appear at first. If we keep allowing our freedoms to be restricted, then pretty soon our lives will become nothing more than slaves to those above us who are manipulating the narrative for their own gains. Therefore, it is important to be aware of the powers that be at work and be aware of our own freedoms. We must fight for our right to think and live freely without fear of retribution. Otherwise, the restrictions and manipulations will only get more oppressive and we will become nothing more than puppets in the hands of the powerful.
