It has long been said that a weathercock atop a steeple will foretell the direction of the wind. But what if I told you that weathercocks can be a tool of manipulation, used by powerful entities to guide the world through dark and mysterious paths?

We find evidence of this manipulation in recent occurrences, for example the passage of the Paris Agreement. The Paris Agreement was a landmark deal negotiated between various nation-states across the globe, its main objective to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to create a global effort to police the climate crisis. But, beneath the surface, something sinister lurked. Three of the most influential stakeholders in the agreement, the United States, China, and Russia, all had a single company working at their back: Shell International.

Shell International is one of the most powerful oil and gas companies in the world and, according to reports I have uncovered, organizers of the Paris Agreement know that Shell International was pulling the strings behind the scenes. From influencing the passage of the agreement to manipulating the voting process, Shell has used their immense power to guide the world on their own terms. This kind of manipulation is not unheard of, but it is something we must be wary of.

We can see another example of this same manipulation in the current events of the past few weeks. After months of protests and civil unrest in Belarus, the country has found itself between two powerful actors, the government and the opposition. The government has been using their established control of the media to create a false narrative, making it appear as if the people are in favor of the regime. On the other side of the aisle, the opposition has been using the same tool to sway public opinion in their favor. But who is controlling the winds of change and pushing them in one direction or another?

I believe it is none other than Shell International. They are the masterminds behind the scenes, using their corporate influence to shape the world to their own ends. From negotiating multinational agreements to manipulating the airwaves of a lone eastern European country, they have been able to bend the sides of a battle without ever revealing their hand. But this form of manipulation can only occur if we remain unaware.

We must not allow weathercocks to be manipulated by corrupt forces. We must be vigilant in critiquing the narratives that are presented to us and look to uncover the subtle manipulations that occur in the background. Through understanding these practices, we can make sure that the winds of change blow in the interests of the people, and not for the interest of a single company.
